Years ago, my brother and I moved to Chicago for the first time. It was scary and weird and wonderful all at the same time. We used to joke about never throwing away the moving boxes cause we never knew if we were gonna get kicked out of our apartment. Luckily we always made it.

This song is an amalgam of our time in that tiny one bedroom apartment in Edgewater, just off the Granville Red Line stop.

The thing about him getting hit by a car is true. It wasn't really bad or anything, more like a bump. But I didn't know that at the time and I definitely ran out of work without saying anything to anyone.

It was an experience I wouldn't trade for anything and listening to this song feels so much like that time that it's really special to me. I hope you like it too.
